Obstacles

Just a quick update.

Paxton had a great week last week. Mon-Thurs. were the best days we have had yet! Beginning last Friday Paxton starting having a lot more bradycardia (heart rate dropping from 150 to 50s) and desats again. Doctors still aren't sure why it's happening but are sort of at a standstill until his PDA is closed. He was finally scheduled to have the PDA closed today, but because he has pneumonia again the surgery has been postponed. :-( It's too bad it didn't happen last week when he was healthy. So he is back on antibiotics to help his body recover.

Good news was that last week Paxton did not have to have eye surgery again. Yeah. We were so happy. His eye pressures were 'manageable", his doctor said. He will be checked again in a week.

He has had some major fussy spells and last night I was there when they suctioned blood out of his trach. It was very scary for us all, but they think it was just because he has had so much suctioning due to his infection rather than that it was a pulmonary hemorrhage. His infection markers kept going up this morning but I am sure they will start to come down soon.

That's about it for this week. Haven't been able to hold him much because he has not felt well and has been too uncomfortable.

Just to clarify from my last post, Paxton is not 9 lbs., but 5 lbs. :) Here are some pictures from last week when he was still feeling well. :)  Thanks for all of your love and prayers, friends. We love you all.

The boys really had a good visit with Pax this week. They loved patting his head softly and trying to give him his binky. Dad was focused on getting him to cheer "Go Cougars" with the boys!
